Cape Horn Vineyard & Riverside Bar, Echuca
It’s time to visit Cape Horn Vineyard. On this beautiful property you’ll find not only an amazing vineyard, producing delicious wine varieties, but also a riverside bar. Lush scenery, moreish food and drink, as well as plenty of activities and events make this a staple of the Echuca-Moama region
The Cape Horn property has been a long running piece of the Echuca-Moama community. In the late 1800s this estate was built and developed into a stunning vineyard, however it would not become the property we see today for many years to come. Once a vibrant vineyard, the property sat uninhabited for a period of time, before finding new life in the early nineties. The adventurous Harrison family obtained the Cape Horn property, and since the early nineties have worked to establish the vineyard as we now see it today!
Over the past nearly thirty years these owners have planted varieties of Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Shiraz, and many more grapes. This care for the land has brought new life, flavour and complexity to the property and the wines it now creates. Today, Cape Horn is shared and run collectively between the Gilmour family, and the Buckley family. Both families have a well renowned and long connection to the beautiful Echuca-Moama region.
The property has been named after the riverbed on the tip of South America’s Cape Horn. In the 19th century riverboat captains of the Victorian region would recognise its resemblance to the South American area and the name was born. The vineyard is nestled between the Murray and Goulburn Rivers, located on a sandhill which has become a popular spot for boats and day-trippers to rest for a picnic, or restock supplies. The property’s revival in the early nineties has brought new life to grapes that were planted in the 1800s to serve a thriving river boat trade. Combining a modern feel with a historic setting, the new Cape Horn Vineyard & Riverside Bar is an oasis set in a stunning riverside setting.
